Clean and simple seahorse greeting card.
I’ve been playing with a long-retired Stampin’ Up! die set called Sea Life Dies. They first appeared in the 2021 Annual Catalogue and, if I’m being completely honest, I hardly touched them when they were current.
In my defence, 2021 was a bit of a whirlwind!
We had an unexpected move, the kids changed schools, COVID restrictions seemed to change every other week, and I was navigating the return to face-to-face teaching while always wondering if we’d suddenly be sent back to online learning. Looking back, it’s no wonder some of my craft supplies didn’t receive the attention they deserved.
Fast forward a few years and I’ve rediscovered these gorgeous dies. Isn’t it funny how supplies can suddenly feel brand new again?
So, who loves clean and simple cards?
I certainly do, although I don’t think they’re the style of card I share here on the blog very often. I tend to enjoy adding layers, details and little finishing touches, but there is something incredibly elegant about letting a single design element do all the hard work.
For these cards, that star element is the intricate seahorse die.

What I love most about this die is the clever way it creates texture and dimension with very little effort. The die cuts an intricate seahorse design directly into the cardstock but leaves it attached in four places. This means the seahorse can gently lift away from the card front without completely detaching.
How clever is that?
The result is beautiful texture, subtle shadows and a striking focal point that immediately draws the eye.
Of course, there had to be a pop of colour somewhere. I just can’t help myself!

To make the intricate cutwork stand out, I added a layer of coloured cardstock behind the seahorse. The contrast really highlights all those delicate details while keeping the overall design clean and uncluttered. A few embellishments became “bubbles” floating around the seahorse and finished the card perfectly.
Sometimes the simplest designs really do make the biggest impact.
Speaking of exciting things happening behind the scenes, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be relaunching the EagerToStamp Etsy shop in July!
The shop has been quietly ticking away in the background for quite some time, making the occasional sale here and there, but I haven’t truly given it the attention it deserves. Over the past few months, I’ve been working behind the scenes, planning, creating and preparing for a fresh start.
The timing feels right.
Rather than treating Etsy as something I fit in when I can, I’m ready to lean into it properly and see where the journey takes me. These beautiful seahorse cards will be available to purchase during the relaunch, along with a growing collection of handmade greeting cards.
To celebrate, I’ll also be running a special 48-hour sale when the shop relaunches in July, so keep an eye out for more details soon.
I’m excited, a little nervous, and very ready to see what happens next.
Tip of the Day:
To enhance the texture and impact of an intricate die-cut focal image, add a layer of coloured cardstock behind the cut design. It instantly highlights the details, creates contrast and adds visual depth without adding bulk to your card.
Papery hugs,
