Some cards make you smile the moment you sit down to make them, and this handmade sheep love greeting card was definitely one of those. The kind where the idea feels light and playful from the start, and you can’t help but enjoy every little decision along the way.

I knew I wanted this card to feel whimsical and warm — the sort of card that feels happy just sitting on the table. And once I reached for the Woolly Friends sheep stamp, everything else seemed to fall into place.
There’s something about those little sheep that’s impossible to resist. I stamped the image three times, knowing straight away that they would work best as a group rather than standing alone. Together, they tell a story.

I kept the colouring soft and cheerful, choosing Balmy Blue, Pretty in Pink, and Shy Shamrock. Each one felt just a little different, but still perfectly at home together — which, honestly, made me smile even more as I worked.
After colouring, I played around with separating the bodies and heads. It’s one of those small details that adds a bit of magic without trying too hard.
This is where the fun really began.

When it came time to adhere the sheep, I didn’t want them lined up neatly or standing still. I wanted movement — that playful feeling of sheep leaping and bouncing their way across the card.
I positioned the bodies first, letting them curve and flow across the design, almost as if they were mid-jump. The heads were added with foam mounts, just enough lift to give them personality and dimension. That tiny bit of height makes such a difference — suddenly they feel lively, as though they might hop right off the card.
It reminded me so much of those beloved picture books where the characters seem to tumble and dance across the page.

I didn’t add much more after that. The sheep were already doing all the work.
Sometimes a card reaches that quiet moment where adding anything else would take away from the story it’s telling. This felt like one of those times. The design was gentle, playful, and full of movement — exactly what I had hoped for when I first sat down.
This card was such a lovely reminder of why I enjoy cardmaking so much. A simple stamp, a few happy colours, and a bit of playful experimenting can turn into something that feels truly special.

The Woolly Friends sheep brought so much charm and joy to this card, and I love how they seem to leap their way across the design — full of life, personality, and just a touch of whimsy.
Those are always my favourite cards to give.
Papery hugs,
