I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop with this Pear Pizzaz Rays of Light birthday card I made for my 12 year old son.

The Pear Pizzaz colour from Stampin’ Ups!® Subtle colour family is our focus and I have gone with the Rays of Light stamp set for a stunning card front background.

The Rays of Light stamp set is a large stamp that creates gorgeous backgrounds for your cards. The effect is fantastic!

How gorgeous is the little boat sailing through the light and the funky placement of the words. Pretty suitable for a 12 year old I should think {smile}

What You Need

  • Stamps/Bundles: Rays of Light background stamp, Let’s Set Sail bundle, Biggest Wish
  • Inks: Pear Pizzaz, Memento Black, Real Red, Soft Suede
  • Paper: Pear Pizzaz, Old Olive, Basic White
  • Other: Sailboat Builder punch (it comes in the bundle), Multi-purpose liquid glue, Stampin’ dimensionals

Rays of Light Birthday Card Recipe

  1. Take a piece of A4 Old Olive card stock, cut in half and fold to make a card base.
  2. Cut a piece of Pear Pizzaz card stock 14.3 cm x 10 cm.
  3. Stamp the Rays of Light in Pear Pizzaz onto this piece. Trim edges so the rays of light go all the way to the edge.
  4. Using Stamparatus, stamp the sail boat base in Soft Suede and the sails in real red.
  5. Punch out with the Sailboat Builder punch.
  6. Adhere the sailboat to the card front layer using foam dimensionals, placing it over the centre of the ray.
  7. Stamp ‘Happy’ at an angle in the top left corner and stamp ‘Birthday’ at an angle below the sailboat.
  8. Cut a piece of Basic White card stock 14.3 cm x 10 cm and adhere to the inside of the card.
  9. Decorate the inside of your card.

And inside the card…

I hope my son likes the card I made him!

  1. What a great card for your young man, I reckon he will love it! It’s great use of that Ray of Light stamp with the sail boat. Almost reminds me of a whirlpool effect. The inside is nice and calm though!!!!

  2. Amie your card is very eye-catching using the Rays of Light stamp. I love how the red boat ‘pops’ out. Awesome card for your son!
