Stamp And Heat Emboss Vellum Birthday Sunflower Card

Last time I did a heat and emboss vellum card was back in 2018!

I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop with this Sweet Sorbet birthday card for my bestie.

What you need

The Sweet Sorbet colour from Stampin’ Ups!® 2022-2024 in-colour family is our focus and I have gone with a Basic White card, layered with a die edged Sweet Sorbet patterned paper and a stamp and heat emboss vellum sunflower image. The card is finished with a Parakeet Party ribbon tied into a bow.

Stamp and Heat Emboss Vellum Birthday Sunflower Card Recipe

It really is an easy card to make. Follow the instructions below.

Begin with a Basic White standard card base and round the left top and bottom corners.
Cut a 6 cm x 14.2 cm Sweet Sorbet patterned paper layer.
Die cut the edge with the circle paper edge from the Blossoming Happiness dies. You will have to move the die up and run through the Stampin’ & Emboss machine twice to get the length of the patterned paper.
Distress the paper edge by bending and randomly pulling a few edges off.
Round the left top and bottom corners and adhere to the Basic White card base.
Stamp sentiment in the bottom right of the card base.
Ink up the sunflower image in the Celebrating Sunflowers stamp set with versamark and stamp onto vellum paper. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the stamped image and heat set with a heat tool.
Use the sunflower outline die to cut the heat embossed image and cut another one from basic white card stock.
On the backside of the heat embossed sunflower image, use Stampin’ Blend markers in Sweet Sorbet, Calypso Coral and Poppy Parade (dark) to randomly colour each sunflower petal. You may have to do this several times to get the desired colour to come through to the front. I coloured my petals at least three times.
Using multi-purpose glue adhere the vellum sunflower to the basic white outline.
Tie a bow in 30 cm of Parakeet Party ribbon and use a glue dot to adhere to the front of the sunflower image.
Adhere foam mounts to the sunflower image and adhere to the card front.

Home Is A Rainbow of Happiness

A Rainbow of Happiness and Easter greetings! I hope you all had a lovely Easter! Mine was so so good. There really is no place like home.

All our belongings arrived a few weeks ago and nearly everything is unboxed. On Saturday I prep’d sandwiches for the kids lunches, Gozleme for snacks, muffins for lunchboxes and afternoon tea, sweet slice for snacks and homemade hot cross buns (see them here on Instagram).

Rainbow of Happiness How To

For this card I created a fun pop and twist panel card featuring the Brilliant Rainbow dies. An unassuming front opening portrait card reveals a gorgeous pop-out and twist centre. A beautiful sentiment is stamped on the lower panel but there are plenty of white spaces to add your message… or even a few people could add their messages!

These dies are from the January – June 2022 Mini Catalogue, and it features a large half rainbow.

I cut the large rainbow from glitter card stock that coordinated beautifully with the patterned paper from the soon to retire Pattern Party patterned paper. You can order it as a host reward until May 2nd.

I cut the small full rainbow twice from basic white card stock and used the cut out to decorate the panels as well!

The clouds were cut from vellum for a lovely soft look to the front of the card, but the clouds on the inside were cut from glimmer card stock.

The happy birthday words on the front come from the retired Well Written dies and a few sequins sprinkled here and there, complete the look of the card. A perfect Rainbow of Happiness to give on someone’s birthday!

Five Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

Stretch Magic In This Night patterned paper beyond the 31st October with five alternative Halloween paper cards!

There are so many gorgeous Halloween cards on Pinterest using Magic In This Night designer series paper, I wish there was someone I could make a few for. But, alas Halloween cards isn’t really a thing in Australia. I buy one Halloween paper pack every year to make a couple of fun projects for my own kids and the kids in my classroom. There’s always paper left over and it has become my mission to discover alternative ways to use it up.

Did you see the gorgeous floral patterns on Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper?

Floral Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

Stunning isn’t it! So many people have commented that they hadn’t spotted these gorgeous sheets. In the card below I have showcased the gorgeous small floral black and white patterned paper by cutting a whole sheet into 14.8 cm x 10.5 cm pieces and mounting onto Whisper White card bases. Die cut a strip of whisper white with the Stitched Lace dies and adhere to the centre. Colour a small sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set with Pretty Peacock and Mossy Meadow. Then layered onto a black Stitched Shapes circle with gold thread and die cut leaves. The “happy birthday” sentiment cames from A Wish For Everything stamp set.

The next card showcases the larger black and white floral patterned paper. I cut a whole sheet of patterned paper into 10 cm x 10 cm pieces and mounted them onto Blackberry Bliss 10 cm x 14.5 cm card. A strip of Blackberry Bliss Regal Designer Series Paper adds interest to this first layer. Edge a Cajun Craze strip with a die cut border from the Halloween Magic Dies, layered with Blackberry Bliss and then topped with a stamped and coloured focal image on Whisper White. The sentiment “happy birthday” sits below this main piece to the right. I’ve then adhered the entire ‘topper’ piece to a Cajun Craze card base.

Banner Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

I love banner cards (and bunting too!) and the next two cards showcase the gorgeous coloured floral patterned paper and the subtle Pretty Peacock patterned paper using a central banner. Layer stamped and coloured images from the Jar of Flowers stamp over a gold foil border cut from the Halloween Magic Dies and another banner stamped with a sentiment. Tussel gold thread behind the jar and flowers.

The final card takes one of the more Halloween style papers, combines it with lace and images from Grace’s Garden to create a birthday card. Add extra interest by cutting several images from vellum and then layer using dimensionals.

What’s Happening

Where did this school term go? I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe how time is flying by! It seems like yesterday I was starting off our very first FULL term for 2020 (thank you very much COVID-19) and now I am looking forward to relaxing for the next two weeks, where I don’t have to rush around getting the kids out of bed and to school (including myself). I am looking forward to the ‘downtime’ as I didn’t get as much of what I wanted accomplished. I haven’t managed to blog as much as I had hoped, which is why my blog postings have been pretty sparse over the last few months. A big success, however, has been posting daily over on the Eager To Stamp Facebook Fan Page. I owe that to an excellent blogging tip called ‘batching’. I have come to the realisation that I am going to have to earmark an evening for writing blog posts and STICK to it. I wonder if batching could work for blog posts too?

My October calendar is all organised {smile} and I am currently working on a few projects, followed by the project pictures, hopefully a tutorial video and of course your exclusive Newsletter tutorial (you’ll love it!). Let’s see if I can give myself a huge push to the end of the year. October begins my absolute favourite time of the year so it would be great to share the fun with you all {smile}

New In Colors Inspiration

New In Colors 2018-2020 are fabulous, aren’t they! To showcase these gorgeous colors I’ve brought out the Beautiful Day stamp set again and paired it with the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Paper. You know that when it comes to card-making that I’m a quick and easy kinda gal, but never boring! I love focusing on one stamp set and creating as much as I can with it for at least a month. I never want to fall down the rabbit hole of owning too many stamp sets and not using them enough, or, shock, horror, never at all, eeeekkkk! I hope to share with you as much inspiration as I can, so when you spend your hard-earned dollars on something you love you get the most out of it {smile}

Beautiful Day Meets 2018-2020 New In Colors

Look at these gorgeous fun new in colors! Each thick whisper white card base has had an inked up brayer rolled over it in each of the 2018-2020 new In Colors. The stunning white flower background has been cut from the speciality designer series paper Delightfully Detailed and adhered using the fine tipped glue from Stampin’ Up! An oval die cut has been adhered to the centre of the card, topped with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Beautiful Day stamp set and a vellum embossed butterfly from the same set.

The butterfly from Beautiful Day stamp set has been embossed in silver and gold. Silver embossing is for the cooler color spectrum of Call-Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel. Gold embossing is for the warmer color spectrum of Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch. The butterflies were then colored with the About WordPrnew In Color Stampin’ Write markers, again following the color spectrum of warm or cool. Finally, I fussy cut them out and adhered to the die cut oval on the card front.

The Stamparatus proved to be an essential tool in stamping ONLY the Happy Birthday sentiment, onto a pre-cut banner.

Beautiful Day Pop Out Window Card

Is Beautiful Day your favourite stamp set too? From the moment I set eyes on this set in the 2018 Occasions catalogue it was love at first sight. Beautiful Day Pop Out Window Card

For my card I have gone with a fancy fold called ‘pop out window fancy fold’. There are a few good online tutorials if you search ‘pop out window fancy fold’. I love that it is such an easy card to make and looks amazing! I especially love that this will fit in a standard size envelope for regular postage cost.
