I loved making this big wave card using the Waves of Inspiration stamp set and coordinating dies. It’s just so darn beautiful!
Welcome to the Art With Heart Pale Papaya Colour Creation Blog Hop. We are thrilled to have you join us today. Our hop features some of your favorite Art With Heart Team Members sharing projects made with Stampin’ Up! products. In fact, you may have just come from fellow creative Rosa Leyden blog.
I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop with this Pacific Point big wave card.
The Pacific Point colour from Stampin’ Ups!® Bright colour family is our focus and I have gone with the emboss resist cardmaking technique.
This gorgeous technique is when you white heat emboss an image and then sponge colour over the top of the embossed image. The effect is delightful!
How gorgeous is the pelican image sitting atop of the jetty pillars?
What you need
- Stamps/Bundles: Waves of Inspiration bundle
- Inks: Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Soft Sude, Versamark
- Paper: Basic White
- Other: White embossing powder, heat gun, Blending brushes, Pale Papaya Stampin’ Blends, Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends, Multi-purpose liquid glue, Stampin’ dimensionals, bling
I was inspired by a card sketch shared on Pinterest Jose Hoogeveen to create the image utilising the circle and keeping lots of white space on the card. I love CAS cards (Clean and Simple) but I also love adding layers!
Big Wave Card Recipe
- Begin with a thick Basic White card base (14.8 cm x 10.5 cm).
- Die cut a large Basic White circle.
- Die cut the wave image using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and the Waves dies.
- Extra Basic White card stock for label and pelican image.
- On the left side of the label, stamp your chosen sentiment in Coastal Cabana.
- Using Soft Suede stamp the Pelican image, then colour the image with Soft Suede Stampin’ Blends markers and Pale Papaya for the beak.
- Adhere the pelican image to the right side of the sentiment label. Set to the side.
- Ink up the big wave stamp with versamark and stamp image on the bottom left of the die cut circle. Sprinkle white embossing powder over the image, tap excess off and use heat gun to set the powder.
- Sponge Pacific Point along bottom of big wave image. Bring Bermuda Bay sponging in over the top of the Pacific Point but stopping just before the top of the wave.
- Carefully sponge Coastal Cabana over the last part of the big wave. (A sponge dauber is perfect for this).
- Using multipurpose glue adhere the die cut wave over the top of the big wave.
- Adhere decorated circle to the centre of the Basic White card base.
- Foam mount the label and attached pelican image and adhere to the base of the circle, just covering the bottom.
- Adhere sequins for added interest to the card front.

Thank you for stopping by today. I am excited to explore ways you can save time and organise your card making supplies so that busy card makers like you can make more cards, more often. That’s what it means to be ‘eager to stamp’!
