Craft A Stunning Fun Fold Christmas Card with Fresh Freesia and 3D Stars

Today, I’m going to show you how to create a fun fold Christmas card using the vibrant fresh freesia color and adding a touch of magic with 3D stars. Get ready to unleash your creativity and make beautiful cards that will leave your loved ones in awe!

I am joining the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team in the Fresh Freesia colour hop, where you will find 10+ creative card ideas!

Materials You’ll Need

Before we dive into the step-by-step process, let’s gather all the materials you’ll need for this crafty adventure:

  1. Cardstock in fresh freesia color
  2. Patterned paper with coordinating colours
  3. Paper trimmer
  4. Multi-purpose Adhesive
  5. Bone folder (optional, but it helps with crisp folds)
  6. Sweetest Star punch and Sweetest Star stamp set

Now that we have everything ready, let’s get started on creating our masterpiece!

Step 1: Folding the Card Base

Take your fresh freesia-colored cardstock and cut it into a long rectangle measuring 8 inches by 11 inches. Then score

Burnish your score lines and adhere the tab to the other end of the rectangle, resulting in a hexagonal box shape!. Adhere two pieces of card stock to either side of the box.

Step 2: Adding Festive Patterned Paper

To make our card pop with Christmas spirit, grab your patterned paper and cut six 4 cm x 4 cm squares. Adhere these pieces to each section between the score lines, leaving a small border around the edges for a polished look.

Step 3: Creating the 3D Stars

Now it’s time to bring some magic to our Christmas card with 3D stars! Take another piece of patterned paper and use your Sweetest Star punch to create a star. On Basic White card stock stamp the Santa image and then punch out. Punch another star from the Basic White card stock.

Score the patterned paper star from point to valley, all the way around the star. Stamp a sentiment on the Basic White card stock and repeat the scoring process. Apply two dimensionals to the centre of each scored star and adhere to a strip of window sheet. Adhere to the floating tabs inside the card base.

Step 4: Colour and Embellish Santa

Let’s add a personal touch to our Christmas card! Grab co-ordinating Stampin’ Blends to colour Santa. Stamp Santa on masking paper and cut masks for his head area, belt, hands and shoes. Apply the masks to the coloured Santa and ink up the snowflake image with White Craft ink and stamp onto Santas suit. Set aside to dry or use a heat gun to hasten the drying process.

Punch Santa with the Sweetest Star punch. Do not score and adhere to the rear right side.

Step 5: Sending Holiday Happiness

Congratulations! You’ve successfully created a stunning fun fold Christmas card using fresh freesia color and 3D stars. Now it’s time to spread some holiday happiness by sending it off to someone special. YES! It fits into a standard size envelope!

Imagine their delight when they receive this unique handmade creation in their mailbox! It’s not just a card; it’s a token of love, creativity, and thoughtfulness that will warm their hearts during this magical season.

Journey into Creativity with Side Accordion Panel Cards: Unfold Endless Possibilities!

Learning how to make a side accordion panel card is easy! I am joining the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team in the Crumb Cake colour hop, where you will find 10+ creative card ideas!

Today, I am super excited to share with you a tutorial on how to create the most adorable and unique side accordion panel card. Trust me, once you try this fun fold technique, you’ll be hooked! So, grab your crafting supplies and let’s get started on making some beautiful cards together.

🌟 The Magic of the Side Accordion Panel Card 🌟

Have you ever come across a card that made your heart skip a beat? Well, that’s exactly how I felt when I stumbled upon the side accordion panel card design. It’s whimsical, charming, and unlike anything I had seen before. And the best part? It’s surprisingly easy to make!

To add an extra touch of magic to my cards, I decided to use the Wintery Nests designer paper. Trust me when I say this paper will instantly transport you into a winter wonderland! With its sweet birds and combinations of colors, it’s perfect for creating stunning fun fold cards.

💡 Let’s Get Started 💡

Now that we have our supplies ready, let’s dive into the step-by-step process of creating our own side accordion panel card:

  1. Start by cutting a piece of A4 Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 14.8 cm height. Cut 1 cm off the length. This will serve as the base of your card.
  2. Cut the left over Crumb Cake strip to 15 cm, score at 7.5 cm.
  3. Score the cardstock at 10.5 cm (normal card fold). Turn the card base and from the other end, score at 4.5 cm, 9 cm and 13.5 cm. Burnish the folds with your bone folder.
  4. Cut 4 panel pieces from your patterned paper, each measuring 14.3 cm x 4 cm.
  5. Cut 2 pieces of patterned paper 5.5 cm x 7 cm.
  6. Adhere your patterned paper panels to the card front.
  7. On the Crumb Cake strip, adhere the two pieces of patterned paper.
  8. Burnish this strip in half and adhere to the card front.
  9. Stamp a sentiment onto a piece of Basic White cardstock measuring 14.3 cm x 10 cm and adhere to the inside of the card.
  10. Now, it’s time to embellish your card! I decided to die cut a bird image from the Wintery Nests designer series paper. But there are so many ways this fun fold could be embellished! Such as, add your favorite patterned paper, die-cut shapes, or even stamped images to each panel of the accordion fold.

Hey there paper crafters! Today’s card is a quick and easy fun fold using a no-scrap template that can easily be made in bulk! Using a delightful Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow colour combination you are sure to love.

Speaking of colour, in this colour hop you’ll find 10+ simple and creative card ideas using Cherry Cobbler. Certainly everything you need to inspire your next crafting session!

The Gate Fold: Learn how to create a fun and unique gate fold card design that will impress your loved ones.

The gate fold technique is not only visually striking but also adds an element of surprise to your cards. To create this fold, simply take a piece of card-stock 14.8 cm x 21 cm and score at 5.2 cm and again at 15.8 cm. Then, fold each side towards the center, creating two flaps that meet in the middle. When you open the flaps, they resemble gates opening wide.

This design allows for endless possibilities when it comes to decorating your card. You can use patterned paper, stamps, or even hand-drawn designs to make it truly unique. Let your creativity run wild as you imagine the delight on your loved ones’ faces when they open this special card.

When it comes to choosing pattern paper for your Christmas tree card, there are so many options available in the Iconic Celebrations pattern paper pack from Stampin’ Up! From classic reds and greens to whimsical prints featuring snowflakes.

Today’s card Consider features Christmas trees and a few festive motifs stamped around. This ties in perfectly with the theme of the card and makes it instantly recognisable as a holiday greeting.

Top Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix and match patterns for a playful and eclectic look!

Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow: Delve into the beauty of this classic color combination and how it enhances the festive spirit of your card.

The combination of cherry cobbler and mossy meadow is like a match made in Christmas crafting heaven! The rich, deep red of cherry cobbler evokes feelings of warmth and joy, while the earthy green of mossy meadow represents the lushness of holiday foliage.

These colors work together harmoniously to create a festive atmosphere on your card. Today’s card uses Mossy Meadow for the base of your card, and Cherry Cobbler for the elements. You’ll also notice the Mossy Meadow trees on the patterned paper and the hand coloured ribbon embellishing the card front to tie everything together.

No-Scrap Template: Discover an innovative way to use your pattern paper without wasting any scraps, making your project more economical. ♻️💰

We all know how frustrating it can be to have leftover scraps of patterned paper after completing a project. But fear not! I have a clever solution for you.

By using a no-scrap template, you can make the most out of your patterned paper without any waste. Simply cut your patterned paper into a 4.8 cm x 14.3 cm and 2 x 5.2 cm x 14.8 cm strips and you have perfectly cut pieces for your card create, with no scraps left behind.

Decorating Your Gate Fold: Get creative with embellishments, stamps, and other decorative elements to make your fun fold the star all cards!

Now comes the fun part – decorating your gate fold card! This is where you can really let your creativity shine.

Using the bauble image one side of the gate fold card opening has tone on tone stamping. This is later repeated inside the card. Two labels from the Unbounded Love die set have been cut in Cherry Cobbler and Pecan Pie, with the addition of a small stamped Christmas Tree sentiment. Once made and adhered to the card a small velcro closure has been added to assist the closing of the card.

If you’re feeling extra crafty, the star of this card is the hand coloured ribbon featured on the card front. Simply grab some White Frayed ribbon from Stampin’ Up! And colour it with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend.

Guy Birthday Card Inspiration

Now, let’s talk about creating a guy birthday card using the Fluffiest Friends stamp set. We all know how challenging it can be to find the right design for male recipients, but fear not! With a little creativity and some clever techniques, we can make a card that any guy would love.

First, let’s focus on the colour palette. Cajun Craze is an excellent choice for a masculine card as it exudes warmth and strength. Using Cajun Craze as the primary colour, I created a warm and rustic background for my card. The rich tones of Cajun Craze added depth and character to the overall design. I paired it with a neutral shade Mossy Meadow and a little splash of Crushed Curry for a sophisticated look.

Next, consider incorporating geometric patterns into your design. You can achieve this by using patterned paper in your card layout. But wait! Don’t waste any precious paper – I have used a no-waste pattern paper template!

Adding Extra Flair

To make your card even more special, consider adding some extra flair. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  2. Die-cutting: Incorporate die-cut shapes that complement the theme of your card, such as the tree-ring image (fussy cut) and the bear.
  3. Unique card front: I haven’t changed the card size but I have cut a section of card stock away from the card front.

Remember, the key is to make the card reflect the recipient’s personality and interests. Let your creativity run wild!

Getting Crafty With Blueberry Bushel Ink

The Blueberry Bushel colour is from Stampin’ Ups!® Regal colour family, a returning colour favourite during the Stampin’ Up! colour refresh. It is a vibrant, eye-catching shade of blue and is becoming a firm favourite of mine! In today’s card I have used Blueberry Bushel cardstock and stamped the sentiment with it.

There are quite a few different options in the 2023 – 2024 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue for making cards for the special men in our lives. From the nature loving guy to the gamer, and everything else in between.

Step-by-Step Tutorial: Creating a Father’s Day Card

What you need:

Father’s Day Fun Fold Card Recipe

  1. Begin with a 30 cm x 30 cm piece of patterned paper. TIP: a pattern without direction works best.
  2. Score the sheet at 5 cm, 10 cm, 20 cm & 25 cm.
  3. Cut the whole sheet in half (15 cm), perpendicular to the score lines.
  4. Put one aside to make another card later.
  5. Mark on both short sides with a pencil at 3.8 cm. Line this mark up in the trimmer with the SECOND score line on both sides (10 cm and 20 cm) and slice off two triangles.
  6. Adhere a 14.5 cm x 9.5 cm piece of Blueberry Bushel to the middle inside of the patterned paper.
  7. Stamp a 14 cm x 9 cm piece of Basic White cardstock at the top with a Father’s Day sentiment in Blueberry Bushel and a fish image at the bottom. Adhere to the Blueberry Bushel cardstock layer.
  8. Fold your triangle pieces along the score line, fit over the front folding card opening on one side and adhere. Repeat on the other side.

Sliding closure

  1. Punch 4 Basic White circles. Score two down the middle. Fold each one in half.
  2. Using a full circle, adhere one of the folded circles to one side of the circle. Repeat with the other folded circle on the other side.
  3. Adhere the final circle to the top, sandwiching the pieces together.
  4. Decorate the slider with alphabet letters and an image from the Gone Fishing stamp set.
  5. Carefully insert one side of the card front sides into the middle of the circle slider. Repeat on the other side. The card front is now ‘locked’ closed and the slider will need to be moved up or down to be removed and the card can be opened.

The Pecan Pie colour is a new addition to Stampin’ Ups!® Neutrals colour family and is our focus for today’s hop.

I have gone with a fun fold card that opens to reveal another card on the inside. The ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ patterned paper adds interest in the background, whilst a pop of blue ties the card together.

What You Need

  • Stamps/Bundles: Gone Fishing
  • Inks: Old Olive, Grey Granite
  • Paper: Misty Moonlight, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Let’s Go Fishing patterned paper, Basic White card stock
  • Other: Nested Essentials dies, Twisted Rope 3D embossing folder, Bakers Twine

Gone Fishing Fun Fold Card Recipe

  1. Begin with a Pecan Pie card base (16 cm x 14.8 cm) and score at 10.5 cm to make a half fold card.
  2. Cut a piece of Pecan Pie (5 cm x 14.3 cm) and emboss with the Twisted Rope embossing folder.
  3. Cut a two pieces of Let’s Go Fishing patterned paper (5 cm x 14.3 cm).
  4. Adhere the embossed Pecan Pie to the small front opening.
  5. Adhere the patterned paper to the back of this card opening and on the inside back of the card base.
  6. Cut a piece of Basic White 20 cm x 13.8 cm. Score in half.
  7. Cut two pieces of Basic White 11.3 cm x 7.5 cm and two pieces of Misty Moonlight 11.8 cm x 8 cm.
  8. From Old Olive card stock cut two different sizes from the Nested Essential label dies.
  9. Stamp the Happy Father’s Day sentiment with Grey Granite on the Basic White card base, ensuring it opens from the right (opposite to normal).
  10. On one piece of Basic White card stock stamp four fly images in Grey Granite and splatter Grey Granite ink over the card stock. Put aside to dry.
  11. On the other piece of Basic White card stock stamp a fish image. Adhere both stamped Basic White card stock to the Misty Moonlight card stock
  12. On the Old Olive labels stamp the sentiments.
  13. Adhere the fish image layer to the Basic White card base, ensuring it opens from the right (opposite to normal). Adhere this card base to the inside back of the Pecan Pie card base. Complete the inner card by adhering the smaller Old Olive label, ensuring it doesn’t go past the Misty Moonlight layer.
  14. Line up the fly stamped layer with the fish stamped layer and adhere to the front card opening.
  15. Tussle a 30 cm length of Bakers Twine and adhere to the back of the larger Old Olive label, then adhere to the card front.

How To Emboss Resist Construction Zone Boy Card

Making this emboss resist construction zone boy card for my grandsons birthday had me playing with Stampin’ Up! inks, watercolour paper and heat embossing.

The Azure Afternoon colour is a new addition to Stampin’ Ups!® Bright colour family and is our focus for today’s hop.

I have gone with a waterfall cardmaking technique using emboss resist to create my own patterned paper.

The waterfall cardmaking technique is where the bottom edge (or right edge, in my card) is pulled and carefully placed layers of cardstock flip over, like a magical book with self-turning pages!

The emboss resist technique is when you white heat emboss an image and then you will apply colour over the top of the embossed image. The effect is delightful!

How gorgeous is all the hard hat man holding the balloons?

What you need

  • Stamps/Bundles: Construction Zone, Biggest Wish
  • Inks: Azure Afternoon, Daffodil Delight, Versamark
  • Paper: Water colour paper, Azure Afternoon
  • Other: Embossing tool kit, White embossing powder, heat gun, Water painters, Multi-purpose liquid glue

Emboss Resist Construction Zone Boy Card Card Recipe

  1. Begin with a Azure Afternoon card base (29.5 cm x 10.5 cm).
  2. Score at 9.5 cm, 10.5 cm, 11.5 cm, 12.5 cm, 13.5 cm and 14.5 cm.
  3. Cut five (5) 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm Azure Afternoon squares and five (5) 10 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper squares.
  4. Cut an 8 cm x 10.5 cm Azure Afternoon and 7.5 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper.
  5. Cut a 15 cm x 10.5 cm watercolour paper.
  6. Embossing images: On three (3) 10 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper, the 7.5 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper and the 15 cm x 10.5 cm watercolour paper, remove static, ink up sentiments with Versamark and stamp onto the centre. Apply white embossing powder to the sentiment and use heat tool to set.
  7. Ink up images from Construction Zone stamp set with Versamark and stamp all over the 10 cm x 10 cm watercolour paper. Have fun with this!
  8. Apply white embossing powder over images and heat set.
  9. Watercolouring: Lie your pieces of watercolour paper on the table and thoroughly wet the watercolour paper. I used the thick brush in the water painters and a glass of water to apply the water.
  10. Add a few drops of Azure Afternoon reinker onto a stamp block and using the second thickest brush apply from the centre of the watercolour paper, brushing out towards the edges.
  11. You can brush the Azure Afternoon over the top of the images or you can brush to the embossed edges and avoid going over the top of an image. I did it both ways, so I could get a green colour on certain images or a nice clean yellow on other images.
  12. Add a few drops of Daffodil Delight to a stamp block and use the smallest water painter to add yellow to areas you would like to highlight or to mix to green.
  13. Use this brush to add Azure Afternoon to images you would like to be blue.
  14. Use the heat tool to dry your paper.
  15. Card construction: When watercolour paper is thoroughly dry adhere 10 cm x 10 cm squares to the 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm squares. Adhere the 7.5 cm x 10 cm watercolour piece to the right-hand side of the inside of the card.
  16. Apply a line of glue between the 9.5 cm and 10.5 cm score line. Adhere your front 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm card piece.
  17. Repeat a line of glue between each score line and adhering each decorated square, until all have been adhered.
  18. Cut a 13.5 cm x1.5 cm Azure Afternoon. Measure 9 cm in from the right-hand side of the card base and apply a dab of glue to the back of the card. Adhere about a 1 cm tab of the Azure Afternoon strip. Fold it over from the top to the bottom, running inside the card, fold over at the bottom and adhere the tab with a dab of glue. No glue should be applied inside the card! This is the guiding mechanism for the waterfall card effect.
  19. Take the bottom card front layer and feed it under the strip you just made.
  20. Optional to stamp the little pull tab and glue to the back of the card base.
  21. Complete the card by adhering the 10.5 cm x 15 cm watercolour paper layer onto the back of the card, which covers the tabs and the pull tab.

Home Is A Rainbow of Happiness

A Rainbow of Happiness and Easter greetings! I hope you all had a lovely Easter! Mine was so so good. There really is no place like home.

All our belongings arrived a few weeks ago and nearly everything is unboxed. On Saturday I prep’d sandwiches for the kids lunches, Gozleme for snacks, muffins for lunchboxes and afternoon tea, sweet slice for snacks and homemade hot cross buns (see them here on Instagram).

Rainbow of Happiness How To

For this card I created a fun pop and twist panel card featuring the Brilliant Rainbow dies. An unassuming front opening portrait card reveals a gorgeous pop-out and twist centre. A beautiful sentiment is stamped on the lower panel but there are plenty of white spaces to add your message… or even a few people could add their messages!

These dies are from the January – June 2022 Mini Catalogue, and it features a large half rainbow.

I cut the large rainbow from glitter card stock that coordinated beautifully with the patterned paper from the soon to retire Pattern Party patterned paper. You can order it as a host reward until May 2nd.

I cut the small full rainbow twice from basic white card stock and used the cut out to decorate the panels as well!

The clouds were cut from vellum for a lovely soft look to the front of the card, but the clouds on the inside were cut from glimmer card stock.

The happy birthday words on the front come from the retired Well Written dies and a few sequins sprinkled here and there, complete the look of the card. A perfect Rainbow of Happiness to give on someone’s birthday!

Handmade Essential Oil Gift Box

Looking for a tutorial on how to make a handmade essential oil gift box? Well, here’s a little tutorial that beautifully presents three bottles of essential oil or one bottle of essential oil with two lip balms. The possibilities are endless!

My design features the Butterfly Beauty dies and the Beauty Abounds stamp set. I used three colours from the 2020 – 2022 In Color collection – they are bright and beautiful, perfect for a butterfly scene.

For the main image, I die cut the inner of the Butterfly Beauty dies using Magenta Madness. The outer die was cut using Misty Moonlight that had been backed with an adhesive sheet. Adhere the pieces together.

A Very Vanilla 14 cm x 8.5 cm panel was stamped randomly with images from the Beauty Abounds stamp set in Just Jade, Misty Moonlight and Magenta Madness.

Wrap Very Vanilla open weave ribbon around this panel and tie the ends into a bow.

Adhere the butterfly die cut to this panel, leaving parts of the wings free to be lifted away from the panel, giving some dimension to the butterflies.

This panel is then adhered onto Magenta Madness 14.5 cm x 9 cm card stock. Once the box is complete this panel will be adhered to the standing back panel.

Handmade essential oil gift box recipe

For the box you will need an A4 piece of Misty Moonlight cut to a width of 16.5 cm.

Score the long side of the Misty Moonlight card stock at 0.5 cm, 4 cm, 7.5 cm and 11 cm.

The short side of the Misty Moonlight card stock is scored at 3.5 cm and 13 cm.

Cut the 0.5 cm sides and remove.

Snip tabs.

Die cut 3 circles between the first and second score lines.

Fold and burnish all score lines.

Adhere the butterfly panel to the back panel of the box.

Cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock 7.5 cm x 3 cm. Use Everyday Label punch to make the ends of the label.

Stamp the thank you sentiment from Butterfly Gala stamp set.

Construct the box and adhere all tabs.

Using Stampin’ dimensionals, adhere the label to the front of the box.

This handmade essential oil gift box is a really easy box to make and makes a stunning way to gift some essential oils to friends and family!

Five Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

Stretch Magic In This Night patterned paper beyond the 31st October with five alternative Halloween paper cards!

There are so many gorgeous Halloween cards on Pinterest using Magic In This Night designer series paper, I wish there was someone I could make a few for. But, alas Halloween cards isn’t really a thing in Australia. I buy one Halloween paper pack every year to make a couple of fun projects for my own kids and the kids in my classroom. There’s always paper left over and it has become my mission to discover alternative ways to use it up.

Floral Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

Stunning isn’t it! So many people have commented that they hadn’t spotted these gorgeous sheets. In the card below I have showcased the gorgeous small floral black and white patterned paper by cutting a whole sheet into 14.8 cm x 10.5 cm pieces and mounting onto Whisper White card bases. Die cut a strip of whisper white with the Stitched Lace dies and adhere to the centre. Colour a small sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set with Pretty Peacock and Mossy Meadow. Then layered onto a black Stitched Shapes circle with gold thread and die cut leaves. The “happy birthday” sentiment cames from A Wish For Everything stamp set.

Alternative Halloween Paper cards

The next card showcases the larger black and white floral patterned paper. I cut a whole sheet of patterned paper into 10 cm x 10 cm pieces and mounted them onto Blackberry Bliss 10 cm x 14.5 cm card. A strip of Blackberry Bliss Regal Designer Series Paper adds interest to this first layer. Edge a Cajun Craze strip with a die cut border from the Halloween Magic Dies, layered with Blackberry Bliss and then topped with a stamped and coloured focal image on Whisper White. The sentiment “happy birthday” sits below this main piece to the right. I’ve then adhered the entire ‘topper’ piece to a Cajun Craze card base.

Banner Alternative Halloween Paper Cards

I love banner cards (and bunting too!) and the next two cards showcase the gorgeous coloured floral patterned paper and the subtle Pretty Peacock patterned paper using a central banner. Layer stamped and coloured images from the Jar of Flowers stamp over a gold foil border cut from the Halloween Magic Dies and another banner stamped with a sentiment. Tussel gold thread behind the jar and flowers.

The final card takes one of the more Halloween style papers, combines it with lace and images from Grace’s Garden to create a birthday card. Add extra interest by cutting several images from vellum and then layer using dimensionals.

What’s Happening

Where did this school term go? I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe how time is flying by! It seems like yesterday I was starting off our very first FULL term for 2020 (thank you very much COVID-19) and now I am looking forward to relaxing for the next two weeks, where I don’t have to rush around getting the kids out of bed and to school (including myself). I am looking forward to the ‘downtime’ as I didn’t get as much of what I wanted accomplished. I haven’t managed to blog as much as I had hoped, which is why my blog postings have been pretty sparse over the last few months. A big success, however, has been posting daily over on the Eager To Stamp Facebook Fan Page. I owe that to an excellent blogging tip called ‘batching’. I have come to the realisation that I am going to have to earmark an evening for writing blog posts and STICK to it. I wonder if batching could work for blog posts too?

My October calendar is all organised {smile} and I am currently working on a few projects, followed by the project pictures, hopefully a tutorial video and of course your exclusive Newsletter tutorial (you’ll love it!). Let’s see if I can give myself a huge push to the end of the year. October begins my absolute favourite time of the year so it would be great to share the fun with you all {smile}
