Whimsical Woodland Embossing with Watercolours

Embossing with watercolours?!?

Absolutely!

Today’s post features the gorgeous Whimsical Woodland embossing folder, with three different cards that used up the entire sheet I created!

The focus colours were Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy.

I am joining the Art With Heart Team in the Heart of Christmas Stampin’ Up! Blog hop, where you will find 10+ simple and creative card ideas to inspire your Christmas crafting sessions!

These cards start with versamark ink being patted over the raised surface of the embossing folder. A piece of watercolour paper is placed inside the embossing folder, which is then run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine.

The versamark ink has been applied to the outlines of the embossing folder design, in this case the trees.

TOP TIP: Wash your embossing folder with warm soapy water as soon as possible!

Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the watercolour paper, ensure the entire surface is coated and then shake the powder of the watercolour paper.

Set the clear embossing powder with a heat gun and you are ready for some embossing with watercolours magic!

What you need for Embossing With Watercolours

Paper towel
Water spritzer
Watercolour painters
Stamp block
Pacific point reinker
Bermuda Bay reinker

Embossing With Watercolours Card Recipe

On the stamp block place a drop of Pacific Point reinker at the top of the block and a drop of Bermuda Bay reinker at the bottom of the block.
Lay some paper towel under the embossed watercolour paper.
Spritz the embossed watercolour paper with water until it is quite wet.
Pick up some of the Pacific Point ink with the watercolour painter and on the stamp block puddle it with water squeezed from the paint brush.
Start to apply the ink to the watercolour paper by coming in from the edge and brushing in a diagonal pattern, avoiding brush lines by squeezing water.
Pick up some Bermuda Bay ink and continue applying ink to the watercolour paper until the entire embossed surface is covered.
Pat dry with a paper towel then allow to dry or dry with a heat gun.

Use Up All The Scraps!

Use up your scraps by cutting 9 squares from the Stitched Shapes dies and one rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles dies. Layer onto a Basic White card stock layer. Add a stamped and coloured gnome from the Kindest Gnomes stamp set. Adhere to a Night of Navy card base.

Triple Layer Stamping with Ocean Waves Stamp Set

How can you resist triple layer stamping with the Ocean Waves stamp set?!

I am loving creating lots of ocean cards using the Waves of Inspiration bundle. The dies include two lovely labels, the pelican on the posts and two gorgeous large wave dies.

I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop with this Bermuda Bay boy Ocean Waves card.

What you need

The Bermuda Bay colour from Stampin’ Ups!® Bright colour family is our focus and I have gone with a Bermuda Bay base and layers. Three Basic White laters have been stamped with the Ocean Wave stamp that has been inked up using the baby wipe technique. The card is finished with seagulls die cut and stamped in Basic Grey. Die cut Basic White clouds are adhered to the card front and finally a Basic White tag and twine, stamped in Pacific Point.

How gorgeous are those clouds with embossing detail?

Triple Layer Stamping Card Recipe

It really is an easy card to make. Follow the instructions below.

Begin with a Bermuda Bay standard card base.
In Bermuda Bay, cut a 12.3 cm x 8 cm piece and a 10.3 cm x 6 cm piece.
In Basic White cut a 13.3 cm x 9 cm piece, a 11.3 cm x 7 cm piece and a 9. 3 cm x 5 cm piece.
Place low tack glue behind the smallest two pieces of basic white and adhere all three pieces together, ensuring there is an equal border all the way around each piece.
See this post for the Baby Wipe Recipe. Using a pre-prepared baby wipe ‘ink pad’, ink up the ocean wave stamp and stamp image over the adhered Basic White card stock.
Stamp the gulls in Basic Grey on the smallest Basic White piece.
Adhere the 9.3 cm x 5 cm stamped piece to the 10.3 cm x 6 cm Bermuda Bay piece.
Adhere the 11.3 cm x 7 cm stamped piece to the 12.3 cm x 8 cm Bermuda Bay piece.
Adhere these two pieces to the 13.3 cm x 8 cm Basic White piece.
Die cut the wide label in Basic White and stamp sentiment in Pacific Point.
Cut a 30 cm piece of white twine, fold in half and secure it to the right side of the label using the loop. Cut a 20 cm piece of twine,fold it in half and secure it to the left side of the label using the loop.
Adhere label to the card front. Wrap twine around front of the card and secure to the back of the card front.
Die cut three clouds in Basic White and adhere to the card front.
Die cut three gulls in Basic Grey and adhere to the card front.
Adhere completed card front to the Bermuda Bay card base.
Inside the card adhere a piece of Basic White 14.3 cm x 10 cm. Stamp the pelican on the posts image in the bottom right corner.

Baby Wipe Technique Wave of Inspiration Thank You Card

Have you tried the baby wipe technique with your stamps yet?

When I saw the Waves of Inspiration stamp set in the 2022 – 2023 Stampin’ Up!® catalogue, I knew straight away that the baby wipe technique was a MUST.

What you need

This Wave of Inspiration card uses a Pool Party base. A 14.2 cm x 10 cm piece of Basic White card is stamped with the wave using the baby wipe technique. The clouds and label are cut from Basic White card using the Waves Dies. The gulls are stamped using Basic Grey and the sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point. A piece of Pacific Point card is threaded through the label and wrapped behind the Basic White card front.

To prepare for the baby wipe technique, lay two or three baby wipes inside an open stamp case. Try to find the plain baby wipes without an embossed image. I used three re-inker colours: Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point.

Baby Wipe Technique Card Recipe

It really is an easy card to make. Follow the instructions below.

Onto the baby wipes that have been laid out inside an empty stamp case add lots of drops of Pool Party from the re-inker. As the ink spreads add drops of Bermuda Bay re-inker in the white spaces between the drops of Pool Party. In a few white areas of the baby wipe add drops of Pacific Point re-inker.
As Pacific Point is the darker more dominant colour add more of the other colours and less of this colour to fill the white spaces.
When the ink on the baby wipe has spread and there is no more white space, the baby wipe is ready to be used like an ink pad.
Using the wave stamp from Waves of Inspiration stamp set, press it onto the baby wipe. Don’t move the stamp around, if you can avoid it. Really press down onto the baby white to get the wave completely inked up.
Stamp the wave image onto the Basic White card front, about 2 cm up from the base.
Clean your stamp and close the stamp case. The baby wipes should stay moist for further stamping over the next few days.
Stamp the gulls in Basic Grey.
Adhere the clouds to the card front.
Take a strip of Pacific Point card that fits through the stamped label. Apply a dab of glue to the back of the label and thread the Pacific Point card through.
Apply glue to the back of the Pacific Point strip and adhere to the card front, just along the bottom of the stamped image, centring the label.
Fold the Pacific Point strip ends to behind the card front. Adhere in place.
Adhere the card front to the card base using multipurpose glue.

This card is a springboard off this month’s exclusive subscriber card sketch and is perfect for the casual crafter or a beginner card maker looking to stretch their wings.

Thank You Card Recipe Preparation

Start with a standard card base. I’ve gone with a side fold 10.5 cm x 14.8 cm thick Basic White card stock.
Cut a 10 cm x 14.3 cm piece of Whale Of A Time patterned paper.
Then cut a 10 cm x 14.3 cm piece of Bermuda Bay card stock, before cutting a curvy piece from the centre of it.
Stamp the sentiment on the bottom left piece of the Bermuda Bay card stock.
In Bermuda Bay ink stamp two turtles on Coastal Cabana card stock before using a small circle die to cut out the turtles.

Thank You Card Recipe Construction

Apply multipurpose glue to the underside of the patterned paper. Centre it on your card base, keep the edges even and glue in place.
Adhere Stampin’ Dimensionals to the underside of the Bermuda Bay pieces. Position the top right piece, matching the edges of the patterned paper. Repeat with the bottom left piece.
Decide where your turtles will be positioned, then adhere a Stampin’ Dimensional to the underside where it will stick to the patterned paper.
Apply multipurpose glue to the underside of each turtle where it sticks to the card stock.
Adhere in place.
Run a thin line of multipurpose glue along the curvy edge of the card stock.
Sprinkle Whale Of A Time sequins along the thin line of glue.

Fun Fold Thank You – Playing with the Z Fold

Welcome! I’m showing you my Fun Fold Thank You card that I’ll be sending out to my Stampin’ Up!® customers that purchased from me this month.

Regular readers will know how much I LOVE this bundle! It never fails to be my go-to set when I need a card in a hurry. This Fun Fold Thank You card comes together very quickly but packs a whole bunch of WOW!

I went with a basic Z Fold on a base of Pool Party and placed a stamped mat of Whisper White on it. Then I wrapped a long piece of Pool Party sheer ribbon around the middle of the card and tied into into a bow to the right of the fold. When I was happy with the bow placement I adhered the ribbon on the folded card front.

After that I adhered the die cut sunflower over the top of the ribbon, leaving half the sunflower centre hanging of the edge. I kept the centre attached and adhered some sequins from the Woven Threads packet.

To complete the card I stamped the sentiment with Versamark onto black card stock. Sprinkled white embossing powder over it and heat embossed. Next I fussy cut the “bunch” saying from the main sentiment and set to the side while I fussy cut the rest of the sentiment. Finally I mounted the “THANKS A” with dimensionals onto the card front and adhered the “bunch” saying below (no dimensionals).

Fun Fold Thank You Baby Wipe Stamping Technique

Have you tried the Baby Wipe Technique? As a lover of colour, it’s one of my favourite techniques!

The colours I decided to go with were Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana and Granny Apple Green.

Using an empty stamp case I layered a clean baby wipe on the base. I then chose my reinker colours. I decided Coastal Cabana would be the sunflower centre and Pool party would dominate the top and bottom areas of the stamped image. Drops of Bermuda Bay and Granny Green Apple were given the left and right sides respectively. After watching the spread of colour I sprinkled some more drops of Pool Party to ‘fill-in’ some of the gaps.

I was sparing on the dominate Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green, but looking at my card I think a bit more Granny Apple Green could have worked.

Fun Fold Thank You card using baby wipe technique

When I was happy with the spread of the ink (i.e. no more gaps), I pressed the large sunflower image into the baby wipe. Just press. Don’t lift and repress like you would on an ink pad. After giving the stamp a good press down onto the baby wipe, lift and check that you are happy with the ink distribution.

On my first go I realised the ink area needed to be wider to fit the large stamp. So I added more drops of ink from the reinkers. I cleaned the stamp and pressed down into the baby wipe.

Lift. Check. Stamp. {smile}

A Pocketful of Father’s Day

Three weeks until Father’s Day here in Australia! What better way to celebrate the wonderful father’s in our lives than to create a gorgeous handmade card. I am pretty sure Father’s Day around here will look like a fresh pot of coffee first thing in the morning, followed by a scrumptious breakfast of bacon and eggs. Then we will all pile into the car and head somewhere amazing. Hubby will bring his fishing rods along for the ride in the hopes that he’ll get to fish and we’ll all try to make that happen for him {smile}

Pocketful of Sunshine for Father’s Day

This is a really simple card using lovely bright colours of Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist, just gorgeous! You know me! Quick and easy but NEVER boring {smile}

To make this card you will need:
Lemon Lime Twist Classic Stamp Pad
Bermuda Bay Classic Stamp Pad
Bermuda Bay card base 21 cm x 14.8 cm
Whisper White cardstock
Tabs For Everything stamp set
Thoughtful Banners stamp set
Pocket Framelits
Aqua Painter

The ‘happy’ is cut with a retired framelit but there is some gorgeous framelits being released on the 5th September in the new Holiday Catalogue that you could use instead {smile}

The Bermuda Bay card stock (14.2 cm x 9.9 cm) has been stamped with the stars from the Tabs For Everything stamp set. The Whisper White pocket has been stamped with the crown outline image in Lemon Lime Twist also from the Tabs For Everything stamp set. An Aqua Painter was then loaded with Bermuda Bay and finger flicked over the pocket.

Once the pocket was mounted onto the front of the card stock with dimensionals, the Father’s Day sentiment was stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the Classic Label Punch and adhered onto the pocket. Finally the ‘happy’ was adhered to the top and the piece was adhered to the Bermuda Bay card base using dimensionals.
