Choosing the Moody Mauve Colour Combination

When it comes to creating a beach-themed card, it’s essential to choose colours that evoke the beauty of the ocean while adding an element of intrigue. That’s why we’ve opted for a moody mauve colour combination. Picture deep purples blending seamlessly with soft pinks – it’s like watching the sky at sunset over a calm sea.

Begin by inking up your large sand dollar stamp with the Blackberry Bliss ink pad. Make sure to cover the entire stamp evenly for a crisp and vibrant impression. Now, carefully press the stamp onto Thick Basic White cardstock, applying gentle and even pressure. Lift it off, and stamp again without re-inking. Voila! You’ve just stamped two sand dollars with different colour tones.

Repeat this process with the smaller sand dollar, creating an arrangement of sand dollars that will make your cards truly unique. Experiment with different sizes and orientations to add visual interest and create a dynamic composition.

Adding Personal Touches and Embellishments

To take your beach-themed greeting cards to the next level, don’t forget to add those personal touches and embellishments that make them truly special. Place a piece of Moody Mauve card stock into the Seaside Wishes embossing folder and run through a Cut & Emboss machine. Use the Seaside Wishes dies to cut a sand dollar and paper tear a piece of the embossed card stock to create a strip. Paper tear a blank strip of Moody Mauve card stock and stamp the ‘sand’ image in Blackberry Bliss all over it.

Stamp a sentiment on a Basic White banner in Blackberry Bliss. Adhere the embossed sand dollar, Moody Mauve paper torn strips and the sentiment banner to the card front.

Finish the card by stamping the inside with a Blackberry Bliss sand dollar and a sentiment.

So, grab your favourite cutter and adhesive, because we’re about to embark on a creative journey that will leave you feeling inspired and connected.

Now, let’s talk about the star of our show – the Misty Moonlight colour. This stunning shade of blue is reminiscent of a moonlit night sky, casting an ethereal glow on everything it touches. It perfectly captures the essence of calmness and tranquility that we associate with the ocean. So, gather your Misty Moonlight cardstock, reinker, and patterned paper because we’re about to create some magic!

🐚Dive Into Design🐚

  1. Start with a blank Thick Basic White portrait tent fold card and a piece of Misty Moonlight card base (14.8 x 10.5 cm). This will serve as your canvas for creativity.
  2. Cut out a mat from the Country Woods patterned paper and adhere to the Misty Moonlight card base. Cut a panel piece from the Country Woods and an extra piece for a banner. Cut another mat from Basic White card stock and emboss with the Seaside Wishes embossing folder, before ink splattering. Cut an extra piece for a sentiment banner, stamp sentiment in Lemon Lime and ink splatter.
  3. Stamp the sea dollar image tone on tone in Flirty Flamingo. Die cut to create a focal point on your card. Stamp three sea stars in Flirty Flamingo on Basic White card stock. Don’t forget to stamp twice without reinking, you will get four images this way.
  4. To add depth and interest, smoosh watercolour paper in Lemon Lime ink and Sea Foam ink. Allow to dry before stamping and die cutting leaf images from Beauty of the Deep and Textured Florals dies.
  5. Finish off your design by adding Crumb Cake twine wrapped around a patterned paper panel. Don’t forget to decorate the inside of your card.

To truly transport your recipient to the seaside, consider using the triadic colour combination of Misty Moonlight, Lemon Lime and Flirty Flamingo. Using the Stampin’ Up! Colour wheel has made choosing colour combinations as easy as sun bathing on a tropical island.

Bringing the Ocean to Life: Stamp, Colour, and Create an Enchanting Coral Reef Card!

Hey there, fellow paper crafters! Today, I am beyond excited to share with you a fun and vibrant project that will surely bring a smile to your face. In this blog post, we will be diving into the world of papercraft to create a stunning Crushed Curry colour birthday greeting card for my seven-year-old grandson. Picture this: two stamped dolphins frolicking around a bright coloured paper coral reef. Let’s get started!

I am joining the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team in the Crumb Cake colour hop, where you will find 10+ creative card ideas!

Materials You’ll Need

Before we begin our creative journey, let’s gather all the necessary materials. Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Shy Shamrock coloured cardstock
  2. Basic White cardstock
  3. Friendly Fins stamp set and die bundle
  4. Basic Grey and Memento Black ink pads
  5. Trimmer
  6. Multipurpose Adhesive glue
  7. Dimensionals
  8. Embellishments

Step 1: Creating the Card Base

To start off our project, grab the Shy Shamrockcoloured cardstock and fold it in half to create the card base. This vibrant shade of green will serve as the perfect backdrop for our underwater scene.

Step 2: Stamping the Dolphins

Now, let’s dive into the world of stamping! Take out your Friendly Fins stamp set and select the adorable dolphin stamp that captures the playful spirit of our project. Ink up the stamps with Basic Grey ink pads in, and carefully press them onto a separate piece of white cardstock. Ink up the body stamp image with Basic Grey ink and carefully stamp inside the dolphin outline.

Step 3: Creating the Coral Reef

Ah, the coral reef – a vibrant and bustling underwater world! With your Friendly Fins die set in hand, choose a variety of coral designs in different shapes and sizes. Grab your Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo and Shy Shamrock card stock and die cut the reef, coral and seaweed. Ink up the rock stamp with Basic Grey, and stamp onto Basic White card stock. Ink up the rock fill stamp with Early Expresso, stamp off onto a piece of scrap paper before stamping inside the outline. Using Crushed Curry markers hand colour the coral attached to the rock and then die cut using your Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. Let your creativity flow as you build a colourful and whimsical coral reef that will transport anyone who sees it to an enchanting underwater paradise!

Step 4: Adding Colour to the Scene

Now that we have our dolphins and coral reef, it’s time to add some life to our scene! Take out your Memento Black ink and stamp the fish. Colour with Crushed Curry markers before using the die to cut out. On a 10 cm x 6.8 cm piece of Basic White card stock, die cut the bubbles in the top right hand corner. Using a blending brush and Summer Splash, gently blend from the bottom edge up to the top, creating a beautiful oceanic backdrop. The blending from dark to light will mimic the movement of water, allowing the colours to blend seamlessly together.

Step 5: Assembling the Card

Once you are satisfied with the colours and vibrancy of your underwater scene, die cut out the dolphins and emboss an 8.5 cm x 12.8 cm Basic White piece of card stock with the Swirl embossing folder. Now, it’s time to bring everything together! Using adhesive glue, attach the Summer Splash blending brush piece to the embossed layer. Assemble your coral reef on top of these layers. Place images strategically to cover the straight line of the coloured card stock behind the coral reef. Finally, adhere the dolphins so they look as though they are frolicking above the reef.

Step 6: Adding Finishing Touches

To complete our masterpiece, let’s add some finishing touches! Choose a birthday sentiment stamp that convey your heartfelt wishes for your recipient. Stamp them onto a separate piece of 10 cm x 14.3 cm Basic White card stock and adhere to the inside of your card.

If you want to take your card to another level of sparkle and shine, feel free to add some embellishments like sequins or rhinestones. These little details will make your card truly stand out and add an extra touch of magic!

1. Gathering Your Supplies

Before we begin, let’s make sure we have all the necessary supplies at hand. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Coastal Cabana and Basic White cardstock
  • Beach Day Stamp Set
  • So Swirly embossing folder
  • Blending brushes
  • VersaMark ink pad
  • Embossing powder (white)
  • Heat tool
  • Summer Splash and Pretty In Pink ink pad
  • Memento Black ink pad
  • Adhesive
  • Paper snips

Once you’ve gathered all your supplies, find a quiet space where you can let your creativity soar!

2. Setting the Scene

To start off our beach-themed birthday card, create an A-Frame card base with Thick Basic White card stock. Then cut cut a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock to the same size as the card base. Place inside the So Swirly embossing folder and run through your embossing machine. This will serve as the base for our masterpiece.

Next, take the Lifesaver Cabin image, ink it up with Versamark and stamp onto a square piece of Basic White card stock. Don’t forget to add a seagull image too! Sprinkle embossing powder over the stamped image, making sure to cover all the inked areas. Gently tap off any excess powder and use a heat tool to melt the embossing powder until it becomes shiny and raised.

3. Bring the Lifesaver Cabin To Life

This adorable stamp will bring a touch of whimsy to your design. To make it really pop, ink up your blending brush with Summer Splash and gently apply ink in circular motions from the bottom of the stamped cardstock. Then ink up another blending brush with Pretty In Pink and gently apply ink in circular motions from the top of the stamped cardstock.

As you watch the image appear before your eyes, imagine yourself strolling along the sandy beach, feeling the warm sun on your skin.

5. Finishing Touches

Mount the coloured image on a piece of Basic White card stock and adhere to the card front. Stamp your sentiment in Black Memento ink, cut with scissors and adhere with dimensionals to the card front.

6. Personalize Your Message

Now that our beach-themed birthday card is complete, it’s time to add a heartfelt message for the lucky recipient. Let your creativity flow as you pen down warm wishes and words of love. Remember, this card is not just a piece of paper; it’s a keepsake evoking beautiful seaside memories and emotions.

7. Share Your Creation

Guy Birthday Card Inspiration

Now, let’s talk about creating a guy birthday card using the Fluffiest Friends stamp set. We all know how challenging it can be to find the right design for male recipients, but fear not! With a little creativity and some clever techniques, we can make a card that any guy would love.

First, let’s focus on the colour palette. Cajun Craze is an excellent choice for a masculine card as it exudes warmth and strength. Using Cajun Craze as the primary colour, I created a warm and rustic background for my card. The rich tones of Cajun Craze added depth and character to the overall design. I paired it with a neutral shade Mossy Meadow and a little splash of Crushed Curry for a sophisticated look.

Next, consider incorporating geometric patterns into your design. You can achieve this by using patterned paper in your card layout. But wait! Don’t waste any precious paper – I have used a no-waste pattern paper template!

Adding Extra Flair

To make your card even more special, consider adding some extra flair. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  2. Die-cutting: Incorporate die-cut shapes that complement the theme of your card, such as the tree-ring image (fussy cut) and the bear.
  3. Unique card front: I haven’t changed the card size but I have cut a section of card stock away from the card front.

Remember, the key is to make the card reflect the recipient’s personality and interests. Let your creativity run wild!

What You Need

Before we dive into the creative process, let’s gather all the essential supplies you’ll need for this project.

Make sure you have Flowering Zinnias patterned paper, card stock, adhesive, paper trimmer, scissors, Flowering Zinnias embossing folder, Simply Zinnia stamp set and any additional embellishments you want to use on hand. Whether it’s sequins or delicate ribbons, let your imagination run wild as you choose elements that will enhance your card’s unique charm.

Now that we have everything ready, let’s get started on creating our masterpiece! Follow these step-by-step instructions to bring your vision to life:

Cut your card stock and patterned paper into pieces.

Flowering Zinnias Quick & Easy Card Recipe

  1. Burnish the fold of the thick Basic White card stock with a bone folder.
  2. Adhere the Blackberry Bliss card stock to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  3. Adhere the 12.8 cm x 8.5 cm patterned paper to the Blackberry Bliss card stock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  4. Adhere the banner to the patterned paper with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  5. Centre and adhere the embossed pieces to the banner with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  6. Stamp the sentiment from the Simply Zinnias stamp set in Memento ink onto the Basic White layer.
  7. Cut with scissors and adhere as shown with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Embellish. Add a few touches of bling.

Personalise. Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere patterned paper to the outside flap of an envelope.

Showcase. Once you’ve completed your masterpiece, it’s time to showcase it in all its glory! Consider framing your card as wall art, allowing its beauty to brighten up any room. Alternatively, pair it with a handwritten note for a heartfelt gesture that will surely bring a smile to someone’s face.   • Inks: Basic Gray, Versamark
  • Paper: Basic Gray card stock, Basic White card stock, Vellum
  • Other: Give It A Whirl dies, Stylish Shapes dies, Stripes and Splatters 3D embossing folders, Silver Elegant Trim, clear embossing powder, Stampin’ Dimensionals

Elegant Card Idea with Good Feelings Card Recipe

  1. Begin with a Basic White card base (29.5 cm x 10.5 cm).
  2. Cut a piece of Basic Gray card stock 10 cm x 14.3 cm.
  3. Stamp “Love” sentiment from Sentimental Park stamp set randomly onto the Basic Gray card stock in co-ordinating ink.
  4. Adhere to card base.
  5. Tear a 6 cm x 14.3 cm piece of vellum along both long edges. Adhere to bottom of Basic Gray card stock layer.
  6. Adhere a 4 cm x 14.3 cm strip of Basic Gray to the centre of the vellum.
  7. Emboss a 3.5 cm x 14.3 cm strip of Basic White with the Stripe embossing folder and adhere to the Basic Gray layer.
  8. Die cut a large circle from the Stylish Shapes dies and stamp the Good Feelings sentiment in Basic Gray. Using Versamark restamp the sentiment over the Basic Gray stamping, apply clear embossing powder to the sentiment and set with a heat tool.
  9. Die cut two each of the large and medium hearts from the the Give It A Whirl dies. Die cut three of the smallest hearts.
  10. Tussle a 30 cm piece of Silver Elegant trim and adhere to the underside of the circle. Apply Stampin’ Dimensionals to the circle and adhere to the card base.
  11. Adhere hearts to the circle and apply Stampin’ Demensionals to the edges that are off the circle.
  12. Adhere 10 cm x 14.3 cm Basic White card stock to the inside of the card and a couple of extra die cut hearts.

The Pecan Pie colour is a new addition to Stampin’ Ups!® Neutrals colour family and is our focus for today’s hop.

I have gone with a fun fold card that opens to reveal another card on the inside. The ‘Let’s Go Fishing’ patterned paper adds interest in the background, whilst a pop of blue ties the card together.

What You Need

  • Stamps/Bundles: Gone Fishing
  • Inks: Old Olive, Grey Granite
  • Paper: Misty Moonlight, Old Olive, Pecan Pie, Let’s Go Fishing patterned paper, Basic White card stock
  • Other: Nested Essentials dies, Twisted Rope 3D embossing folder, Bakers Twine

Gone Fishing Fun Fold Card Recipe

  1. Begin with a Pecan Pie card base (16 cm x 14.8 cm) and score at 10.5 cm to make a half fold card.
  2. Cut a piece of Pecan Pie (5 cm x 14.3 cm) and emboss with the Twisted Rope embossing folder.
  3. Cut a two pieces of Let’s Go Fishing patterned paper (5 cm x 14.3 cm).
  4. Adhere the embossed Pecan Pie to the small front opening.
  5. Adhere the patterned paper to the back of this card opening and on the inside back of the card base.
  6. Cut a piece of Basic White 20 cm x 13.8 cm. Score in half.
  7. Cut two pieces of Basic White 11.3 cm x 7.5 cm and two pieces of Misty Moonlight 11.8 cm x 8 cm.
  8. From Old Olive card stock cut two different sizes from the Nested Essential label dies.
  9. Stamp the Happy Father’s Day sentiment with Grey Granite on the Basic White card base, ensuring it opens from the right (opposite to normal).
  10. On one piece of Basic White card stock stamp four fly images in Grey Granite and splatter Grey Granite ink over the card stock. Put aside to dry.
  11. On the other piece of Basic White card stock stamp a fish image. Adhere both stamped Basic White card stock to the Misty Moonlight card stock
  12. On the Old Olive labels stamp the sentiments.
  13. Adhere the fish image layer to the Basic White card base, ensuring it opens from the right (opposite to normal). Adhere this card base to the inside back of the Pecan Pie card base. Complete the inner card by adhering the smaller Old Olive label, ensuring it doesn’t go past the Misty Moonlight layer.
  14. Line up the fly stamped layer with the fish stamped layer and adhere to the front card opening.
  15. Tussle a 30 cm length of Bakers Twine and adhere to the back of the larger Old Olive label, then adhere to the card front.

Whimsical Woodland Embossing Chocolate Slider Box

Today’s post features the gorgeous Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder to create a Chocolate Slider Box that I will be giving as end of year teacher gifts.

The colour combination is Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Basic White. The Storybook Gnomes patterned paper features two lovely sheets of snowflakes that you can see in the tag and bottom of the box.

Have you seen the adorable Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up?

I nearly missed it in the catalogue but my attention was drawn to it when I saw it being used by one of my favourite Instagram card makers.

Today I am using a fun swiping technique to highlight the gorgeous images of this Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder.

I am joining the Art With Heart Team in the Heart of Christmas Stampin’ Up! Blog hop, where you will find 10+ simple and creative card ideas to inspire your Christmas crafting sessions!

What you need

This Chocolate Slider Box has been designed to hold a 170g chocolate bar. It features a closed base and a ribbon pulley to reveal the chocolate bar contained inside the gorgeous gift packaging.

To see how I achieved the white wash look on the Whimsical Woodland embossed card stock, please watch this video.

Whimsical Woodland Chocolate Slider Gift Box Recipe

  1. Using your choice of coloured card-stock cut it to 22.5 cm x 19 cm.
  2. Score the long edge at 9 cm, 10.5 cm, 19.5 cm and 21 cm.
  3. Score the short edge at 1.5 cm.
  4. Along this score line, cut and taper the tabs up to the 1.5 cm score line. Remove the 1.5 cm tab at the end.
  5. Measure the large panels from score line to score line, 1 cm from the top and mark at 4.5 cm. Single hole punch at each mark. Set aside.
  6. Emboss a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock (or your co-ordinating choice) using the Whimsical Woodland embossing folder. Using the white craft ink pad, brush it across the surface of the embossed card stock.
  7. Cut the embossed piece to 14.8 cm x 9 cm.
  8. Cut a piece of patterned paper 3 cm x 9 cm.
  9. Adhere the embossed piece to the front panel and the patterned paper along the bottom. Re-punch the hole.
  10. Fold along the score lines to create the box. Apply glue to the side tab and press the edges together to seal the box closed.
  11. Fold the two small base tabs in, fold the first base tab down and apply glue. Press the second tab onto the glue to seal the base closed.
  12. Cut a piece of ribbon 70 cm in length.
  13. Thread the ribbon through the punched holes and bring them together evenly at both sides.
  14. Place the bar of chocolate between the two pieces of ribbon and push down into the box, so the chocolate bar and the ribbon go inside the box.
  15. Tie the tag to the ribbon and then tie the ribbon to secure the chocolate inside the box.
