Filled With Sweetness: A Handmade Card Filled With Shells

Many of you know that I have a full-time job as a Kindergarten teacher at a small rural school. It sits right in the middle of farming paddocks, producing everything from wheat and canola to sheep and cattle. And just to make things even more beautiful, the southern border of our school is the ocean.

It really is a pretty special place to work.

But…

I travel 45 minutes each way to and from school.

Now, as much as I absolutely adore my job and the kids, this travelling business is seriously getting in the way of my CRAFTING and I am not liking it one little bit!

Apparently, according to my husband, my crafting habit is getting in the way of paying bills (rude 😂), so off to work I go each day. Oh well!!

We’re almost in the middle of an 11-week term and I’m trying very hard not to count down the weeks… but everyone keeps reminding me exactly how long the term is and how long we still have to go.

Normally during the school term, I go into full “nothing but work” mode and tell myself I’ll get back to crafting in the holidays.

But not this term.

Nope!

I’ve decided I’m no longer waiting around for school holidays to do something I genuinely love. Instead, I’m stealing back a few precious weekend hours for some well-earned (and very deserved!) paper crafting.

Honestly, my mental wellbeing could use a little craft therapy right now… otherwise I might actually need a real therapist! 😂

But enough about me… onto the card!

Today’s card was created using the sweet Filled With Sweetness jar stamp and dies, and I just love how soft and pretty it turned out. I also pulled in the retiring Shell Collecting stamp set (I’m still not ready to say goodbye to some retiring favourites!), along with Very Vanilla cardstock and Stampin’ Blends to add colour and softness.

To finish the card, I wrapped baker’s twine around the jar twice and tied it into a little bow, adding a cute label for those final details that always seem to make a handmade card feel extra special.

Sometimes it’s the simple touches that make me happiest.

Tip of the Day:
A classic Stampin’ Up! saying… make a card, send a card!

And goodness knows this is advice I need to follow myself!

When you finally get the chance to MAKE some beautiful cards, don’t let them sit hidden away in a drawer forever. Pop one in the mail. Surprise a friend. Brighten someone’s day.

Whimsical Woodland Embossing Chocolate Slider Box

Today’s post features the gorgeous Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder to create a Chocolate Slider Box that I will be giving as end of year teacher gifts.

The colour combination is Balmy Blue, Pacific Point and Basic White. The Storybook Gnomes patterned paper features two lovely sheets of snowflakes that you can see in the tag and bottom of the box.

I nearly missed it in the catalogue but my attention was drawn to it when I saw it being used by one of my favourite Instagram card makers.

Today I am using a fun swiping technique to highlight the gorgeous images of this Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder.

What you need

This Chocolate Slider Box has been designed to hold a 170g chocolate bar. It features a closed base and a ribbon pulley to reveal the chocolate bar contained inside the gorgeous gift packaging.

Whimsical Woodland Chocolate Slider Gift Box Recipe

Using your choice of coloured card-stock cut it to 22.5 cm x 19 cm.
Score the long edge at 9 cm, 10.5 cm, 19.5 cm and 21 cm.
Score the short edge at 1.5 cm.
Along this score line, cut and taper the tabs up to the 1.5 cm score line. Remove the 1.5 cm tab at the end.
Measure the large panels from score line to score line, 1 cm from the top and mark at 4.5 cm. Single hole punch at each mark. Set aside.
Emboss a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock (or your co-ordinating choice) using the Whimsical Woodland embossing folder. Using the white craft ink pad, brush it across the surface of the embossed card stock.
Cut the embossed piece to 14.8 cm x 9 cm.
Cut a piece of patterned paper 3 cm x 9 cm.
Adhere the embossed piece to the front panel and the patterned paper along the bottom. Re-punch the hole.
Fold along the score lines to create the box. Apply glue to the side tab and press the edges together to seal the box closed.
Fold the two small base tabs in, fold the first base tab down and apply glue. Press the second tab onto the glue to seal the base closed.
Cut a piece of ribbon 70 cm in length.
Thread the ribbon through the punched holes and bring them together evenly at both sides.
Place the bar of chocolate between the two pieces of ribbon and push down into the box, so the chocolate bar and the ribbon go inside the box.
Tie the tag to the ribbon and then tie the ribbon to secure the chocolate inside the box.

Stamp-A-Stack Of Tags

I wanted to show you today that using these items you can create tags for all occasions, not just Christmas.

This week I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Heart Of Christmas Blog Hop with Stamp-A-Stack of Tags. Last week’s colour creations blog hop gave a hint that I have been playing around with tags!

What you need

Stamp-A-Stack of Tags Merry Christmas Tag Recipe

Cut in Basic White, the small tag from the Celebrations Tag dies.
Cut patterned paper layer 9.5 cm x 5 cm, and snip to form banner.
Punch in Mint Macaron a label using the Label Me Lovely punch. Cut in half.
Die cut in Petal Pink a banner from the Stylish Shapes dies and cut in half.
Using the Scallop circle dies cut one in gold and the corresponding circle in Basic White.
Cut the snowflake in Basic White using the die in the Celebrations Tag dies.
Stamp Merry Christmas in Poppy Parade onto the Basic White die cut circle.
Adhere to the gold scallop.
Adhere the Petal Pink banner behind the scallop, centred and even.
Adhere the Mint Macaron Label Me Lovely label halves, centred and evenly.
Adhere the patterned paper to the tag base.
Adhere the sentiment to the patterned paper.
Adhere the snowflake to the top left of the sentiment and place a fine sparkle blue gem to the centre of the snowflake and 2 more around the sentiment.
Cut a 20 cm piece of white seam binding ribbon and colour with a Mint Macaron marker.
Cut a 15 cm piece of white twine and tie around the seam binding. Knot and then tie a bow.

Watercolour with markers Blackberry Bliss

Today’s card features a technique of watercolour with markers using Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Markers. I haven’t shown a watercolour card on the blog for a long time! The last one I could find was this gorgeous mermaid card.

I am joining in with the Art With Heart Team’s Colour Creations Blog Hop with this Blackberry Bliss birthday card.

What you need

The Blackberry Bliss colour from Stampin’ Ups!® Regal colour family is our focus and I colour coordinated with a Fresh Freesia card base and layer. The layer has been decorated with a Soft Succulent and Basic White label. Die cut flowers from the Meadow dies have been water coloured with Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write markers. The card is finished with a retired Blackberry Bliss ribbon.

Watercolour With Markers Card Recipe

It really is an easy card to make. Follow the instructions below.

Begin with a Fresh Freesia standard card base.
Cut a 9.5 cm x 13.8 cm Fresh Freesia card stock layer.
Using the Tailored Tags dies, cut the largest die from Basic White. Adhere to a larger piece of Soft Succulent and trim to shape of label.
Die cut three of the same flower from the Meadow dies, using watercolour paper. Cut stems to desired lengths.
Watercolour with markers: Using a Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write marker, randomly swipe colour onto the flower. Use a water painter to brush over the colour, spreading the colour to the tips of the petals, as it bleeds from the water.
Use a Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write marker to randomly apply colour to the leaves and stem. Repeat with a water painter.
Allow to dry or use a heat gun to speed up the process.
Adhere the flowers to the tag.
Cut a 15 cm length of ribbon and a 20 cm length of ribbon. Adhere the ends of the ribbon to the rear of the Fresh Freesia card front. Tie on the right side.
Stamp sentiment just above the ribbon.
Adhere the tag to the card front over the ribbon and then adhere to the card base.
Complete your card with a stamped sentiment on the inside of your card.

How To Fold 6”x6” Paper To Create A Pocket Treat Bag

Several years ago I attended a Stampin’ Up! workshop hosted by a good friend and it was there that she showed us how to fold 6” x 6” paper to create a pocket treat bag to give as gifts.

Just one 6” x 6” piece of patterned paper will give you a two pocket treat bag. Perfect for a special tea bag and small gift card.

Fold two 6” x 6” pieces of patterned paper and you will create a four pocket treat bag, that you could fill with a small chocolate, a gift card and tea bags.

My personal favourite is folding three 6” x 6” pieces of patterned paper, which creates six pockets to fill with lots of small treats.

6” x 6” Pocket Treat Bag Instructions

Step 1: Take a 6″ x 6″ sheet of patterned paper.

Step 2: Fold in the right corner and crease at 3.5 cm. Fold in the left corner and crease at 3.5 cm. Note: If you would like bigger pockets crease at increased measurements.

Step 3: Flip over and fold in half, matching points together.

Step 4: Take one point and fold down. Creasing at 2 cm.

Step 5: Repeat with the remaining side.

Repeat with extra paper and glue them back to back to create more pockets!

Punch a hole at the top of the treat bag and thread ribbon through the hole.

Have A Hoot Pocket Treat Bag

Stamp the cute owls from Have A Hoot stamp set onto a die cut Crumb Cake circle with Early Expresso ink.
Repeat the stamp onto scrap Crumb Cake card sock.
Stamp a sentiment on Crumb Cake card stock with Early Expresso ink.
Punch out using the Classic Label punch.
Using Stampin’ Up! watercolour pencils, colour the branch and leaves only on the die cut circle. Colour the owl on the scrap piece of card and die cut using the Peek A Hoot dies.
Using a dimensional adhere the die cut owl over the owl on the die cut circle.
Adhere the completed die cut circle to the front of the pocket treat bag.
Using a dimensional adhere the Classic Label sentiment to the front of the pocket treat bag.
Die cut a tag from Crumb Cake card stock and stamp a fun sentiment with Early Expresso ink. Put in some fun treats and thread the tag onto the ribbon and tie the treat bag closed.
